United Methodist Women’s Meeting: Saturday, August 18th @ 12:00 p.m. in Room 206. ALL WOMEN are invited to attend.  This is a mandatory meeting for all officers.

Prayer Ministry:  The Ministry of Prayer is looking for disciples to join the prayer ministry.  We are in need of women and men to be a part of this very important ministry.  For more information about the Prayer Ministry, please contact Sis. Hazel Sanders @ 316.409.5000.  Thank You!

Prayer Ministry:  The Prayer Ministry wants to make available to anyone a way to get their prayer needs and requests to the prayer team. A Prayer Box is available in the Narthex where requests can be placed. The team will be praying over these requests during the coming weeks.

The Horatio Alger Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The National Scholarship is valued at $25,000. State scholarships are awarded to eligible students in all fifty states and the District of Columbia and are valued up to $10,000. To be eligible for either the Horatio Alger National Scholarship or Horatio Alger State Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2018 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
  • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
  • Be a United States citizen

Students can apply at application.horatioalger.org. Deadline is Oct. 25, 2018.

What time is it? EDUCATION KICK-OFF TIME!!!  In the past we used marketing messages to get you excited about Education Kick-Off. This time we are keeping it simple. What: Education Kick-Off Reception Why: To celebrate the beginning of our various spiritual education opportunities: Sunday School, Disciple Class and various bible study classes for adults, youth and children.  When: Sunday, Aug 26, 2018, immediately following worship.  Who: Anyone who desires to fellowship while studying God’s word; who desires their children to have a strong spiritual foundation and anyone who needs encouragement. Disciple ClassIs it necessary to take disciple class? YES IT IS! Can I dedicate one evening per week, for one hour, for 26 weeks? YES YOU CAN! What do you need to do: Sign-up in the Narthex and identify which day works best for you; pay for your book ($17 for OT and $17 for NT); and SHOW UP for the first class the week of Sept. 3!  Questions: Contact Pastor Black!

Youth & Children’s Ministry:  We are looking for committed members & Parents to help with teaching and getting the Youth and Children’s ministries started.  If you are interested, please sign up in the Narthex.  Both ministries will have classes during the week of the Educational Kick-Off.   Contact Bro.
